“From the very beginning, our research on Alexander disease has been a close partnership with the patient/family community with their gracious donations of tissue and DNA. But research is expensive, and our search for treatments and eventual cures would not have been possible without their generous financial support. We’re getting close. Please help."

As a researcher working on rare diseases, I'm very aware of the challenges patients and families face. Traditional funding avenues often overlook these conditions, leaving patients with limited treatment options and scientists with limited funding. That's why I believe patient community funding is so vital. It empowers us to pursue innovative approaches, like our lab's research on developing new AI algorithms to generate highly targeted therapies, which has received NIH funding after patient advocacy funding. With the support of dedicated patient communities, like EndAxD, I am confident that we can accelerate the development of potentially life-changing breakthroughs and bring hope to those affected.
